Eligibility & Requirements

  • Passport from a visa-required country.
  • Confirmed onward ticket(s) showing departure within 48 hours.
  • Valid visa or residence permit for your final destination (if required).

Required Documents

  • Passport (minimum 6 months validity).
  • Two photos (35 × 45 mm, white background).
  • Onward ticket(s) & travel itinerary.
  • Visa/residence proof for final destination.

Application Process

  1. Complete IRCC application and upload documents online.
  2. Book biometrics (if required) at the nearest VAC.
  3. Wait for IRCC decision, then submit passport for visa label.
  4. Receive passport back and travel through Canada.

Processing Times

Standard processing is typically 2–3 weeks after biometrics. We recommend applying at least one month before travel.

IRCC doesn’t charge an application fee for transit visas, but biometrics and processing support are still required.
