Standard Visitor Visa

The UK Standard Visitor Visa allows you to visit England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland for tourism, family visits, short business meetings, or private medical treatment. It normally permits stays up to 6 months and can be issued for multiple entries.

The Home Office fee is £115, converted to ~US $175 at May 2025 rates; a scheduled increase to £127 applies from 9 April 2025.

Eligibility

You need this visa if both apply:
  1. Your nationality is on the UK “visa-national” list (most Caribbean, African, Asian nationals).
  2. You plan to stay under 6 months and will not work, marry, or study longer than 30 days.
Nationals holding a valid Irish Residence Permit or certain US/Schengen visas may be exempt under specific Transit or ETA rules—ask us for confirmation.

Required Documents

  • 1. Passport – valid ≥ 6 months beyond arrival, 1 blank page.
  • 2. Online application form (gov.uk) & payment receipt.
  • 3. (2) photos – 45 × 35 mm, light background, no glasses.
  • 4. Proof of funds – bank statements or pay-slips (last 3 months).
  • 5. Travel itinerary – flight bookings and accommodation OR invitation letter from UK host.
  • 6. Employment / school letter – confirms leave approved and intent to return.
  • 7. Previous travel history – copies of visas and stamps (last 10 years) 

Apply at least one month before travel to secure an appointment and allow for passport return.
